Welcome, I’m Denise-Ama – or simply, Denise.

I’m a qualified integrative psychotherapist, counsellor, and coach with a passion for helping others navigate life’s challenges. With 15+ years’ experience working in higher education, I have extensive experience supporting people from a range of backgrounds.

This, along with various voluntary roles, fuelled my desire to make a deeper impact, leading me to earn a Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Coaching from the University of East London. This unique course blends counselling and coaching, enabling us to explore your past, present, and future holistically.


As a British-born Ghanaian, I deeply understand the complexities of belonging and identity in today's diverse society. I recognise the challenges of navigating a world that often highlights our differences over our shared connections. This perspective shapes my commitment to fostering an inclusive and welcoming therapeutic space.

Counselling and Psychotherapy

Although the terms “counselling” and “psychotherapy” are often used interchangeably, they differ in scope and duration.

Counselling typically refers to shorter-term support focused on addressing specific issues or challenges.

It often involves exploring current difficulties and their immediate roots, offering a space to process emotions and develop coping strategies.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy, on the other hand, tends to be a longer-term, open-ended process that delves deeper into underlying patterns, past experiences, and the unconscious mind.

It provides a space to explore your upbringing, relationships, and other formative experiences that may influence your current thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.

Whether you choose to work with me for short-term or long-term therapy, I offer a safe, confidential environment where we can explore these areas with compassion and understanding. I will support you as you navigate your emotional landscape, helping you to gain insights and develop greater self-awareness.

Therapy & Coaching

For those who wish to combine therapeutic exploration with a more goal-oriented approach, I offer an integrated Counselling/Psychotherapy and Coaching model, following the Personal Consultancy framework.

We begin with a foundation of therapy, focusing on the past and present to understand your current challenges and emotional needs.

Progress Path

As we progress, and when you feel ready, our sessions can shift towards coaching, which is more future-focused. This part of our work will be about setting and achieving meaningful goals, understanding your strengths and values, and creating actionable steps towards your desired future.


Clients can choose to engage in traditional counselling and psychotherapy or opt for an integrated approach that includes both therapeutic exploration and coaching. This flexibility allows us to tailor our work to your unique needs and aspirations, whether you are looking for healing, growth, or transformation.
